As I told you before, I love this type
of drama, in this case, besides being the classic story of High School
sweethearts going by different ways, we have a cozy, loving, sexy and melt-your-panties
kind of story.
At the beginning, when the characters saw
each other in a meeting of former high school classmates thirteen years later
with a thousand questions in their heads about what might have happened or what
may happen this time and are seen with such resentment and disdain You really
want to know what could have happened between them, because both have a broken
heart but then you discover that it is a problem due to lack of communication.
Cam, sorry, Camilla is a successful
woman who runs a bourbon company and makes some big changes in her appearance
because she does not want to have anything to do with the clumsy, nerdy,
broken-hearted girl that left town, but, in the deep, she is too insecure
around AJ for all the love that she still feels for him.
Definitely AJ won my heart, at first
glance I thought that he was the typical arrogant-prick guy who was a bastard with
Cam, but in reality, he is a kind man, passionate about the wood and steel
furniture that he builds, that is a big part of the community and is also
broken for the girl who left without him and the girl who did not see again in
thirteen years, some when he needed her the most.
Very soon they discover that the
love in them did not die at all, that they have issues for the way the things
ended, but that they have to make a trip to the past just to remember why they
did not talk about the doubts that they had. So just for few days they live in
their bubble of love trying to make up for the wasted years, until Cam's stay
ends and the reality reaches them.
How hard is to realize that all the
years that passed away, the lives that they build far away from each other,
weigh too much when they want to build a life together.
“We look like Christmas.” My words are shaky at
best.
“It’s magical, pure and perfect, but it can’t
last.
It probably wouldn’t be the wonder it is if we
could make it.”
About the book
This book is definitely to have a good
time on a cold day (along with a coffee and a blanket) and give you hope in
love, has very endearing characters like Trigg and Crosby or Cam's mom that was
like a great angel who helped them to see things in different perspective.
In addition to that it is set in a time of the year in which we know that we must forgive and reflect on past things, not to mention that it is my favorite time of the year and they make you less cold by having very hot scenes. 😉
I like that Cam is reserved as to how they
can make a future work together, but that does not make her show the love she
feels for AJ.
About Trigg, I think that the author could
have done a little more with this super friend, so I really hope that Ace does
justice to her and make her a little book.
Oh! And yes, I hated AJ's mom for giving
them a life of squats and trying to make them feel so bad for wanting to be
together, I really hated her.
Also, for me is very original that
the chapter names were songs, because you can put the song and read the chapter
feeling the emotion of the lyrics and the music, let them accompany you through
the different emotions that this story evokes.
“Camilla, I know you
think I belong here and that you can’t take me away but that’s not true. It’s you. I belong with you.

Por primera vez en años, estoy
pensando que podría ser un hecho.
- No me odies, pero creo que aún
lo hago.
Como les dije anteriormente, amo este tipo de
dramas, en este caso, además de ser la clásica historia de Amores de
preparatoria yendo por caminos distintos, tenemos una historia acogedora,
amorosa, sexi y del tipo que te calienta las hormonas.
Al principio, cuando los personajes se ven en
una reunión de ex compañeros de la preparatoria trece años después con mil de
preguntas en sus cabezas acerca de lo que pudo haber pasado o de lo que puede
pasar esta vez y se ven con tanto rencor y desdén que realmente quieres saber
qué pudo haber sucedido entre ellos, porque ambos tienen el corazón roto, pero
luego descubres que es un problema por falta de comunicación.
Cam, lo siento, Camilla es una mujer exitosa que dirige una compañía de
bourbon y hace algunos grandes cambios en su apariencia porque no quiere tener
nada que ver con la chica torpe, nerd y con el corazón roto que dejó el pueblo,
pero, en el fondo, es demasiado insegura con AJ por todo el amor que todavía
siente por él.
Definitivamente AJ ganó mi corazón, a primera vista pensé que él era el
típico chico arrogante que era un cabrón con Cam, pero en realidad es un hombre
amable, apasionado por los muebles de madera y acero que construye, que es gran
parte de su comunidad y también está roto por la chica que se fue sin él y a la
que no volvió a ver en trece años, algunos en los cuales él más la necesitaba.
Muy pronto descubren que el amor en ellos no murió en absoluto, que
tienen problemas por la forma en que las cosas terminaron, pero que tienen que
hacer un viaje al pasado solo para recordar el por qué no hablaron sobre las
dudas que tuvieron. Así que solo por unos días viven en su burbuja de amor,
tratando de compensar los años desperdiciados, hasta que la estadía de Cam
termina y la realidad los alcanza.
Qué difícil es darse cuenta de que todos los años que pasaron alejados,
las vidas que construyeron muy lejos el uno del otro, pesan demasiado cuando
quieren construir una vida juntos.
-Somos como la Navidad. -Mis
palabras son temblorosas en el mejor de los casos.
-Es mágico, puro y perfecto, pero
no puede durar.
Probablemente no sería la
maravilla que es si pudiéramos lograrlo.
Acerca del libro
Este libro
definitivamente es para pasar un buen rato en un día frío (junto con un café y
una cobija) y darte esperanza en el amor, tiene personajes muy entrañables como
Trigg y Crosby o como la mamá de Cam que fue como un gran ángel que los ayudó a
ver las cosas en diferente perspectiva.
Además de que está
ambientado en una época del año en la que sabemos que se debe perdonar y
reflexionar acerca de las cosas pasadas, sin contar que es mi época favorita
del año y ellos hacen que tengas menos frío al tener escenas muy candentes. 😉
Me agrada que Cam es
reservada en cuanto cómo pueden hacer funcionar un futuro juntos, pero eso no
hace que le demuestre a Aj el amor que siente.
Sobre Trigg, creo que
la Autora pudo haber hecho un poquito más con esta súper amiga, por lo que
realmente espero que Ace le haga justicia y le hagan su librito.
¡Ah! Y si, odié a la
mamá de AJ por hacerles la vida de cuadritos e intentar hacerlos sentir tan mal
por querer estar juntos, de verdad, la odié.
Además, para mí es muy original que los
nombres de los capítulos fueran canciones, porque puedes poner la canción y
leer el capítulo sintiendo la emoción de las letras y la música, dejando que
ellas te acompañen a través de las diferentes emociones que evoca esta
historia.
- Camilla, sé que piensas que yo pertenezco aquí y que no puedes
